BESONDERE ORTE is a location agency and full-service provider for events in Berlin. Founded in 2000, the company now employs 70 people (as of 12/25) and operates three extraordinary event venues. BESONDERE ORTE also runs the Hugo & Notte restaurant and the 360° viewing platform at the Französischer Dom.

BESONDERE ORTE combines historic buildings with modern events and a sustainable overall concept. The company aims to “fill with life” listed buildings in accordance with their original use and to ensure their preservation through event use. Since its foundation, sustainability has been at the heart of the company's philosophy, which means that every event is carried out in harmony with ecological and social aspects.

The shareholders of BESONDERE ORTE are church institutions: the Protestant Church District Berlin City Center, the Protestant Parish Auferstehung, and the Protestant Parish Tabor. These institutions have committed the company to sustainability-oriented corporate management.

BESONDERE ORTE operates three exceptional event locations in Berlin:

• Umweltforum (Auferstehungskirche, near Alexanderplatz)
• Tagungswerk (Jerusalem Church, between the Jewish Museum and Checkpoint Charlie)
• Französischer Dom (including the French Friedrichstadt Church, at Gendarmenmarkt)

The company also has two other areas of business:

• Hugo & Notte restaurant in the Französischer Dom (at Gendarmenmarkt)
• 360° viewing platform in the Französischer Dom (with spectacular panoramic views over Berlin)

The locations offered by BESONDERE ORTE provide ideal conditions for a wide range of events, including:

• Conferences, congresses, seminars, workshops
• Gala dinners, anniversary celebrations, product presentations, and corporate events.

Capacities range from 10 to 500 people and offer flexible room concepts that can be individually adapted to the needs of your event.

BESONDERE ORTE war 2012 die erste Veranstaltungslocation in Deutschland, die eine EMAS-Zertifizierung (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) erhielt. Alle Locations des Unternehmens sind nach diesem strengen EU-Umweltmanagementsystem zertifiziert.
Seit 2018 wird das Unternehmen zudem jährlich nach den Kriterien der Zertifizierung Sustainable Berlin in die höchste Kategorie „Leader“ eingestuft.

Für Kaffeepausen bezieht das Unternehmen bestimmte Zutaten und Erzeugnisse ausschließlich in Bio-Qualität und ist dafür nach der Bio-AHV-Verordnung von der Gesellschaft für Ressourcenschutz (DE-ÖKO-039) zertifiziert. In 2012, BESONDERE ORTE was the first event location in Germany to receive EMAS certification (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme). All of the company's locations are certified according to this strict EU environmental management system.
Since 2018, the company has also been classified annually in the highest category, “Leader,” according to the criteria of the Sustainable Berlin certification.

For coffee breaks, the company sources certain ingredients and products exclusively in organic quality and is certified for this by the Society for Resource Protection (DE-ÖKO-039) in accordance with the Bio-AHV regulation.
