We offset our CO2 emissions!

We have calculated exactly how high the proportion of CO2 emissions is that we cause through our business activities. This carbon footprint forms the basis for offsetting emissions. In cooperation with Klima-Kollekte, we support a project that provides solar lamps to disadvantaged households.

Background to the project: The caste system still exists in India. People are born into a caste and find it difficult to "leave" it. The ‘untouchables’ are at the bottom of the social hierarchy. They are considered worthless and impure and are subject to constant discrimination. These people have no access to electricity.

A paraffin lamp is often used as the only source of light. This is extremely harmful to health and provides hardly any light in the dark.

The project is installing 4,163 photovoltaic systems on the families' huts. Each household receives one portable and three permanently installed LED lamps. This will save 21,060 tonnes of CO2 over the 10-year project period.

The new solar lamps create additional prospects for young people and especially for women. They often take over the maintenance and handling of the new systems and thus secure a side income.
