100% green electricity

Measure

Electricity only from renewable energies

For more than 20 years, we have been obtaining our electricity entirely from renewable sources, so that we use 100% green electricity. With photovoltaic systems and combined heat and power plants at the Umweltforum and the Tagungswerk, we also produce electricity that is both consumed ourselves and fed into the grid as "green electricity".

Green electricity and energy efficiency

In photovoltaics, sunlight is converted directly into electrical energy in solar cells. The Umweltforum's photovoltaic system is located on the green area next to the house and on the roof. It has a collector area of 120 m². Its output is 15.3 kW peak. It supplies more than 9,000 kilowatt hours of green electricity per year.

A combined heat and power unit works according to the principle of so-called cogeneration. The heat released during the generation of electrical energy is used for heating. This saves up to 40 % primary energy. And up to 30 % less CO2 is emitted. Our combined heat and power plant is also located in the Umweltforum.
