1. Data protection at a glance
The following information provides a simple overview of what happens to your personal data when you visit our website or send us personal data by other means. Personal data is any data with which you can be personally identified. For detailed information on data protection, please refer to our data protection statement as below.
1.2 Data collection on our website
How do we collect your data?
On the one hand, your data is collected when you provide it to us. This may be, for example, data that you enter in a contact form. Other data is collected automatically by our IT systems when you visit the website. These are mainly technical data (e.g. Internet browser, operating system or time of page view). This data is collected automatically as soon as you enter our website.
What do we use your data for?
Some of the data is collected to ensure that the website is provided without errors. Other data may be used to analyse your user behaviour.
What rights do you have regarding your data?
According to the DSGVO or the BDSG, those affected by data processing have a right to information (Art.15 DSGVO) about the data collected from them, can request confirmation of data processing and provision of a copy of the data, as well as a right of complaint to the competent supervisory authority (Art. 77 DSGVO). They have a right to rectification (Art. 16 DSGVO), which may also lie in the completion of the data. They have a right to deletion ("being forgotten") (Art. Art. 17 DSGVO) and a right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 DSGVO) as well as a right to data portability (Art. 20 DSGVO). Data subjects have a right to object (Art. 21 DSGVO) to future processing of data and restrictions on automated decisions in individual cases, including profiling (Art. 22 DSGVO) apply here. If you have consented to the data processing and the data is processed on this basis, you have the right to withdraw this consent at any time.
2. General notes and mandatory information
We take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations as well as this data protection statement.
We would like to point out that data transmission over the Internet (e.g. e-mail communication) can have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is not possible.
Note to the responsible authority
The party responsible for data processing on this website is:
BESONDERE ORTE Umweltforum Berlin GmbH
vertreten durch die Geschäftsführung Anke Stopperich und Tim Rössle
Phone: +49 (0)30 5268021-0
The responsible party is the natural or legal person who alone or jointly with others determines the purposes and means of the processing of personal data (e.g. names, e-mail addresses or similar).
Revocation of your consent to data processing
Many data processing operations are only possible with your express consent. You can revoke previously given consent at any time. For this purpose, an informal notification, for example by e-mail to us, is sufficient. The legality of the data processing carried out up to the time of revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.
Data subject rights
According to the DSGVO or the BDSG, those affected by data processing have a right to information (Art.15 DSGVO) about the data collected from them, can request confirmation about the data processing and provision of a copy of the data. They have a right to rectification (Art. 16 DSGVO), which may also consist in the completion of the data. They have a right to deletion ("being forgotten") (Art. Art. 17 DSGVO) and a right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 DSGVO). Data subjects have a right to object (Art. 21 DSGVO) to future processing of the data.
In the event of any violation of data protection law, the data subject has a right of appeal to the competent supervisory authority. The competent supervisory authority in matters of data protection law is the State Data Protection Commissioner of the federal state in which our company is based. A list of data protection officers and their contact details can be found under the following link: https://www.bfdi.bund.de/DE/Infothek/Anschriften_Links/anschriften_links-node.html.
Right to data portability
In accordance with Article 77 DSGVO you have the right to have data which we process automatically on the basis of your consent or in fulfilment of a contract handed over to you or to a third party in a common, machine-readable format. If you request the direct transfer of the data to another responsible party, this will only be done to the extent that it is technically feasible.
SSL or TLS encryption
For security reasons and to protect the transfer of confidential content, such as orders or enquiries that you send to us as the site operator, this site uses SSL or TLS encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the fact that the address line of the browser changes from "http://" to "https://" and by the lock symbol in your browser line.
If SSL or TLS encryption is activated, the data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.
Objection to advertising e-mails
We hereby object to the use of contact data published within the framework of the imprint obligation to send advertising and information material that has not been expressly requested. The operators of the pages expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of the unsolicited sending of advertising information, such as spam e-mails.
3. Data collection on our website
Server log files
The website operator automatically collects and stores information in so-called server log files, which your browser automatically transmits to us. These are:
- Browser type and browser version
- Operating system used
- Referrer URL
- Host name of the accessing computer
- Time of the server request
- IP address
This data is not merged with other data sources.
The legal basis for the processing of data is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a) DSGVO, if the data is processed according to the consent of the data subject. As a rule, however, data processing will be necessary for the fulfilment of a contract (Art. 6 (1) (b) DSGVO) or for the protection of legitimate interests (Art. 6 (1) (f) DSGVO). The legitimate interest of the processing here is the provision and upholding of the online services for the information of (potential) customers and (potential) business partners as well as other parties interested in the internet presence. In exceptional cases, the legal basis is also another reason listed in Art. 6 (1) c) - e) DSGVO.
If you send us enquiries via the contact form, your data from the enquiry form, including the contact data you have provided there, will be stored by us for the purpose of processing the enquiry and in case of follow-up questions. We shall not disclose this data without your consent.
The processing of the data entered in the contact form is therefore based exclusively on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO). You can revoke this consent at any time. For this purpose, an informal notification, for example by e-mail to us, is sufficient. The legality of the data processing operations carried out up to the revocation remains unaffected by the revocation.
Registration on this website
You may register on our website to use additional functions on the site. We use the data entered for the sole purpose of using the respective offer or service for which you have registered. The mandatory information requested during registration must be provided in full. Otherwise, we will reject the registration.
For important changes such as in the scope of the services offered or for technically necessary changes, we shall use the e-mail address provided during registration to inform you respectively.
The processing of the data entered during registration is based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO). You can revoke your consent at any time. For this purpose, an informal notification, for example by e-mail to us, is sufficient. The legality of the data processing already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.
The data processed on this website will be deleted after the intended purpose of the processing has been achieved, but not before a statutory retention period has expired. Insofar as the data is required for the conclusion of a contract, the fulfilment of the contract and/or the termination of the contract, it will be stored for the time required for this in each case and deleted after the contractual relationship has ended, insofar as there are no contractual and/or legal obligations to store the data.
4. Application and recruitment process
Within the scope of the application process, the personal data entered by you and contained in the documents sent to us shall be collected. This includes, in particular, the following personal data (such as surname and first name, address, date and place of birth, marital status and nationality), further contact data (such as e-mail address, telephone, fax), professional and training details (such as details of school and vocational training, higher or technical education, further and advanced training, qualifications, driving licenses), application photo, salary expectations and correspondence related to your your application (e.g. correspondence with you, e-mails, notes from job interviews or telephone calls).
The application data is collected and processed solely for the purpose of the application process. The legal basis for data processing is Section 26 (1) sentence 1 and (3) of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), insofar as data processing is required for the decision on the establishment of an employment relationship.
Your personal data will be deleted as soon as knowledge of it is no longer required for the application process, i.e. your data and your personal candidate profile will be deleted six months after completion of the application process, i.e. after the position has finally been filled or the application process has otherwise ended. Deletion will not initially take place if you have consented to the further storage of your data for consideration in future job offers. If we conclude an employment contract with you after the end of the application process, the data will be transferred to our personnel administration system for the purpose of implementing the employment relationship and processed there.

Rechtsgrundlage: Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. a) DSGVO (Einwilligung).
If you would like to receive the newsletter offered on the website, we require your e-mail address as well as information that allows us to verify that you are the owner of the e-mail address provided and that you agree to receive the newsletter. Further data is not collected or only on a voluntary basis. We use this data solely for sending the requested information.
The processing of the data entered in the newsletter registration form is based exclusively on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO).
If you use our services, we may process your personal data to send you newsletters with relevant information and offers about our own or selected partners' products and services via various information channels such as post, email or our other digital channels, provided you are our customer. We may also send you customer surveys allowing you to evaluate the product and services we provide. Our processing of direct marketing and customer surveys is based on our legitimate interest pursuant to Art. 6 (1) lit. f.
You can revoke your consent to the storage of the data, e-mail address and their use for sending the newsletter at any time, for example by using the "unsubscribe" link in the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.
The data you provide for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and deleted after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. Data that has been stored by us for other purposes remains unaffected by this.
For the dispatch of newsletters WE USE THE SERVICES of MailChimp. The provider is Rocket Science Group LLC, 675 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Suite 5000, Atlanta, GA 30308, USA. MailChimp is a service with which, among other things, the sending of newsletters can be organized and analysed. When you enter data for the purpose of receiving newsletters (e.g. e-mail address), this data is stored on MailChimp's servers in the USA. MailChimp has a certification according to the "EU-US Privacy Shield". The "Privacy Shield" is an agreement between the European Union (EU) and the USA, which is intended to ensure compliance with European data protection standards in the USA.
With the assistance of MailChimp, we can analyse our newsletter campaigns. When you open an email sent with MailChimp, a file contained in the email (so-called web beacon) connects to MailChimp's servers in the USA. This makes it possible to determine whether a newsletter message has been opened and which links, if any, have been clicked. In addition, technical information is recorded (e.g. time of retrieval, IP address, browser type and operating system). This information cannot be assigned to the respective newsletter recipient. It is used exclusively for the statistical analysis of newsletter campaigns. The results of these analyses can be used to better adapt future newsletters to the interests of the recipients.
If you do not want any analysis by MailChimp, you must unsubscribe from the newsletter. For this purpose, we provide a corresponding link in every newsletter message. Furthermore, you can also unsubscribe from the newsletter directly on the website. The data processing is based on your consent (Art. 6 para. 1 lit. a DSGVO). You can revoke this consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter. The legality of the data processing operations already carried out remains unaffected by the revocation.
The data you have provided to us for the purpose of receiving the newsletter will be stored by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter and will be deleted from our servers as well as those from MailChimp after you unsubscribe from the newsletter. Data that has been stored by us for other purposes (e.g. e-mail addresses for the member area) remains unaffected by this.
We have concluded a so-called "Data Processing Agreement" with MailChimp, in which we oblige MailChimp to protect our customers' data and not to pass it on to third parties. This agreement can be viewed at the following link: https://mailchimp.com/legal/forms/data-processing-agreement/sample-agre….
